LAWRENCE — The Lawrence Licensing Board approved the transfer of the 114 Liquors license and two other applications at its August 12 meeting. Attorney Matthew Porter represented buyer John C. LLC in the transfer of the 80 Winthrop Avenue package store from longtime owner Luis Perez, telling the board "it's been a very smooth transition thus far." A commissioner used the item to flag the board's enforcement focus, saying "we're going to be cracking down on underage drinking and serving minors," and noted package stores must now retain surveillance footage for 14 days, down from a prior 60-day standard.

The board also approved a Class 2 wholesale-to-wholesale motor vehicle license, office space only, for Porto Seguro Logistics at 292 Lowell Street, after confirming through an interpreter that no vehicles could be kept on site, and granted St. Patrick Parish a one-day wine and malt license for its September 19 picnic. All votes passed 2-0.
