Lawrence Ordinance Committee backs $100 bus-stop parking fine and a stalled collectibles-shop license.
Other Committee · Meeting of September 29, 2026
Lawrence Ordinance Committee backs $100 bus-stop parking fine and a stalled collectibles-shop license. The committee, chaired by Councilor Anna Levy, voted unanimously to send MeVa-backed ordinance 402-26 to the full council, which would bar parking in marked bus stops during the transit authority's roughly 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. operating hours. MeVa Administrator Noah Berger said ridership is "60 percent above" pre-pandemic levels and remains free to riders, while Councilor Gregory Del Rosario said the push began after elderly riders near Rita Hall were forced into the street by parked cars.
The panel also forwarded a secondhand-dealer license for Celeste and Jason Brodnick's Everett Mill comic-book shop, and Vice Chair Franklin Miguel flagged 21 council referrals dating to April 2024 that city departments have still not answered.
